Beginning Tapestry Weaving

Beginning Tapestry Weaving

Saturday, October 20 from 10 am - 1:30 pm

Let's make woven wall hangings with Melissa Jenkins. In this 3.5 hour workshop, you'll learn the basics of tapestry weaving from getting to know your weaving tools and planning your design to basic weaving and finishing techniques including warping, basic weave & variations, rya fringe & shag, soumac and triangles. We'll provide all the tools and materials you need to create your project. If you fall in love with weaving during the workshop, you have the option to purchase your very own weaving kit to take home. Depending on your pace, you can finish your project by the end of class.

If you know for sure you want to buy a kit and want to guarantee which color will be available for you, add it to your cart during check out and we’ll reserve it for you in advance of the workshop.

*Please note refunds on event bookings are not available, however, if you can’t attend you are more than welcome to send someone in your place. Read Fine Print for more details.

Melissa Jenkins has been a maker for over 15 years. What started as using floss as jewelry string for simple beaded necklaces, turned into a management position at a Wisconsin bead store. Her growing passion led to a position at an interior design firm and her love for textiles began. When she's not making or dreaming up new projects, you can find her spending time with her family, styling her home, enjoying the outdoors, thrifting for treasures, or checking out a good concert. Experience her earthy meets modern jewelry and weaving designs by checking out her very well styled Instagram account or visiting her Etsy shop.
